My story
Hi, I’m Peter Wawrzyniak, and I’ve spent more than 45 years as an engineer, the last 30 of them running Paw Print Copiers.
We supply, rent and repair printers and copiers for businesses across the Home Counties and London.
For the record, I started out in the music business. Not on stage, mind you, but as a maintenance engineer at CBS Records. It was my job to keep the vinyl presses running. I spent six years there, including four years as an apprentice, while studying for my City & Guilds qualification at college.
After CBS, I spent 18 months as a maintenance engineer at Hozelock. It gave me plenty of useful technical experience, although it was mucky work and I soon found myself looking for something a little cleaner.
That’s what brought me into copiers. I spent nine years as a mobile engineer with Summit Reprographics, travelling to customers’ offices to repair photocopiers and fax machines. That’s where I really learned the trade and came to understand printers inside and out.
I eventually left Summit with big plans of my own in another industry. Not long afterwards, they gave me a call to ask if I could help with their workload, so I went back as a contractor and charged for my time.
The longer I did it, the clearer it became that businesses needed an independent engineer they could call, and somewhere along the way I realised how much I loved the work. Before long I had customers of my own, started advertising, and Paw Print Copiers was up and running. That was 30 years ago.
Since then, I’ve worked on hundreds of different machines. If it’s a Konica Minolta, HP, Canon, Toshiba or Samsung, there’s a good chance I’ve had one in bits at some point.
I quickly realised that a lot of copier companies want to lock you into a three to five year contract, and many won’t touch a repair unless you’re signed up.
That never sat right with me, because every business is different. Some would rather buy a machine outright and pay for servicing and parts as they need them. Others want to pay per print, and some prefer to rent a printer on a rolling monthly contract so they’re never tied in. I offer all three, and I’m happy to talk through which one suits you.
For the most part, you’ll deal directly with me from beginning to end. I answer the phone, put your quote together and turn up to fix your machine.

Once we’ve diagnosed the fault, we’ll explain what’s gone wrong, what needs to be done, and how much the repair will cost before any work goes ahead.
If we uncover another problem while working on your machine, we’ll let you know and agree the next steps with you first.
You’ll always receive an honest recommendation based on the age and condition of your equipment. If a repair makes sense, we’ll tell you. If it would be more cost-effective to replace or rent a photocopier, we’ll be just as upfront about that too.
